Bob Corker Doesn't Consider Harold Ford Jr. A Real Tennessean. I Guess He Doesn't Consider Me One Either!
I have been out of state for the past few weeks so I have missed the heating up of the campaign for the U.S. Senate that is being vacated by Bill Frist. You cannot imagine my outrage when one of the first things I heard on the radio was Bob Corker attacking Harold Ford Jr. for growing up in D.C. not Tennessee and for attending college in Pennsylvaina and not at U.T. As if those were good solid reasons not to vote for Mr Ford.
Harold did basically grow up in D.C. that was where his father worked he didn't have much choice about that. He could hardly pack his bags at six years old and tell his parents " I'm out of here Mom and Dad. I moving home to Tennessee"
I know this first hand, the first thirty years of my life I only spent three in Tennessee. You see my fathers career did not allow us to choose where we wanted to live. Many times our family had to move because that is what was decided by my fathers employer, we didn't always like it but we did it. Now I know what some of you our going to say, your Dad could have changed careers if he wanted to it was his choice. You would be correct he could have but he didn't want to you see my Father was a career soldier in the United States Army, he went where he was told and we went with him, we didn't have any choice.
So according to Mr. Corkers logic I am not Tennessean enough for him. Thats okay it motivated me. Today I went and voted early for Harold Ford Jr.
